Gibson Girl ATC

This was one of my first attempts at layering. Started with a plain white atc backing, added background paper, cut to size.  Then printed Gibson image from an old ad for hats. Cut it out using Creative Memories cutter and circle template. Mod Podge Matte to adhere the three layers. Used white charcoal pencil for highlights, colored pencils for shading and defining the face, hair and clothes. Used twinkle watercolor in Harvest to wash the card then added lace embellishments. Voila!

Gibson Girl ATCs

I'm working on a set of Gibson Girl ATCs. Here are three of the twelve in their beginning stages.

Under the Sea

Ok, I love mermaids. It's true. This one came out so cute. Sakura micron pens on Bristol Board.

Dreamboard Collage

Illustration board and collage with a bit of tangling. This was so fun!

Dia de Muertos Tangle style

Sugar skulls fascinate me. I find that the outline of the skull lends itself to tangles really well.  This was done with Sakura pens and Gelly markers.

And then...it was 2014

I always have the best of intentions to blog about whatever creative endeavor I am working on, but timing is everything and it's difficult (colossal understatement) to find time to craft AND blog. So...as the title of this post indicates, another year has passed and I am once again attempting to chronicle a bit of my artistic work here. Why? Well, frankly I have no idea. I like the idea of blogging, I guess. But my other activities (librarian, archivist, genealogist) require odd bits of things like footnoting and source citing. Wayyy to busy to put that kind of work into a blog at this point. So, crafting it is.
